Today was the Day

Today was the day I had my dream,

The sky was blue, the grass was green.

People came from all around,

Words are said, but I heard no sound.

My life is like a floating ball,

My heart is pumping, not wanting to stall.

I looked to you for help and love;

You gave a smile with a hand in glove.

Things that happen, things I’ve seen.

Places to go, places I’ve been.

I work, I play, and I live each day.

I sow the seeds to make the hay.

I breathe, I taste, I smell the world.

My life before you is unfurled.

I stand here bare, for all to see,

This life I have is yours for free.

I love, I laugh, and I die,

The world goes on to pass me by.

The sun will shine, the rain will come,

Darkness falls on everyone.

I sit and ponder the years that passed,

At what age do I think I’ll last?

I see you now for what you are,

My hope, my life, my shining star.

Life, Love, Aspirations, Dreams.

Words are easily said, so it seems.

My time on this world is very short,

I start with nothing and end with nought.
